Love is born of God. It is what we are all here for. It is what we are called to do. Being human, our brains, our hearts, as well as our souls are intertwined in everything we do and feel. What we wish to consider as love may be emotions which stem from reasons of loneliness, of a wish for reassurance, of a search for security. But the source of true love is pure. 1 John 4:7 “God is love , and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” So, love, in its purest form, is God’s love flowing through us. 1 John 4:11 “Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.” This love does not carry need or fear. God’s love is perfect love. But we are not God, therefor we are not perfect, and will not be perfect in anything we do, even in our expressions of His love. Our task, then, is to strive to emulate God in that perfect love to as high a degree as our humanness allows. This means we need to remember to love in those times when loving is not easy. We should love through mistakes, we should love through our own hurt, we should love through hardships. We should love when love is not returned, we should love even when love seems not to be wanted. We should love ourselves, we should love others, we should love our universe, we should love God. Love should permeate our every thought and every action. The more love in our hearts, the closer we are to Paradise, the closer we are to God. When we feel the Joy in our hearts from the recognition of love, we are certainly feeling the touch of God.
