I love looking up the meanings of words, and the one that caught my fancy this morning is “enjoy”. The first definition is “take delight or pleasure in”, although the one I like best is “be blessed with”. The things given to us to enjoy are truly blessings, and I cannot help but be grateful. However, the “antonym” of “enjoy” is not what I would wish, being “dislike”. To me – the “antonym” of enjoy – or “receive joy” would be to “give joy”. So, where we are the receiver of blessings, the natural antonym for enjoy should be God, the giver of blessings. Or at least, that’s my take on it…
